Teenager from Mississippi Dies in Head-On Crash in Jackson, Louisiana
Nobody ever wants to read about someone getting killed in a car accident. But it’s even worse when the person whose life was cut short is a young person. They’ve barely started to live life and they’re gone. It is frustrating for the family. And it can be frustrating for the police who can’t figure out what exactly caused the car crash. This was the scene in a head-on crash in Jackson, Louisiana last week.
A young man named Austin Dixon of Glosten, Mississippi was traveling Northbound on LA HWY-68 near LA HWY-10. For some reason, his 2018 Toyota Corolla crossed the center lane and drove into oncoming traffic.
When he crossed the line, a local prison bus crashed into him head-on. At the time of the crash, the bus was carrying a bus full of inmates and trustees to their daily work detail. 3 of the inmates and 2 of the officers were taken to the local hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing. There has been no word on why the 19-year old was traveling through Louisiana at the time of the accident. There has been no word from the victim’s family.
The police still have no idea what caused the victim to drive his car into oncoming traffic. They have ordered toxicology reports on both drivers. They haven’t confirmed that impairment was an issue but it appears that they suspect it did play some role in the crash.
