A 45-year-old Opelousas man died after his Harley-Davidson left Louisiana Highway 3212 and struck a concrete curb near Grand Prairie Road in Iberia Parish early Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Louisiana State Police has not released the motorcyclist’s name. Troop I responded shortly before 2 a.m.
What LSP Says Happened
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2002 Harley-Davidson was traveling west on LA 3212 when it left the roadway to the right for reasons still under investigation and struck a concrete curb.
The rider was ejected and died at the scene. State Police said he was wearing a DOT-approved motorcycle helmet.
Troopers obtained standard toxicology samples for analysis. The pending testing is part of the investigation and does not establish that the rider was impaired.
Why the Motorcycle Left the Road Remains Unknown
The central unanswered question is what caused the motorcycle to leave the travel lane. The initial release does not identify speed, impairment, another vehicle, a roadway defect or a mechanical problem as a cause.
Scene marks, the motorcycle’s condition, witness information, any available vehicle data and the toxicology results may help investigators answer that question. The preliminary account does not support choosing among those possibilities.
