A 28-year-old Leesville man died after the Honda Foreman he was driving left Belton Loop, struck several trees and overturned in Vernon Parish on September 19, 2026.
Louisiana State Police reported that the vehicle ejected him during the rollover. Troopers described it as a utility terrain vehicle, or UTV.
The Driver Died at the Scene
Troop E responded at approximately 9:11 a.m. State Police said the vehicle was traveling south before it left the roadway, hit trees and overturned.
The release identifies the driver by age and hometown but not by name. Troopers collected routine toxicology samples and did not publish the results.
Local reporting carried by KPLC repeated the State Police account and did not add an independent reconstruction.
The Roadway Departure Remains Unexplained
The public reports do not give the vehicle’s speed, describe braking or steering, or identify another vehicle or obstruction. The motorcycle-style or off-road components should be inspected before anyone assumes a mechanical failure.
Scene marks, tree damage and the vehicle’s final position may show its path. Nearby property video, witness information or GPS data may help if those sources actually exist.
The ejection is important to the injury analysis. It does not explain why the vehicle left Belton Loop.
The Public-Road Rules Require More Facts
Louisiana Revised Statute 32:299.3 generally restricts UTV operation on public roads, subject to designated-road and other exceptions. Registration, equipment, licensing and insurance requirements may also apply.
The State Police description does not establish the vehicle’s exact legal classification, Belton Loop’s designation or whether a road-use rule contributed to the crash. Those questions require the vehicle specifications and local roadway records.
A possible regulatory violation does not by itself create a claim against another person or explain the fatal roadway departure.
Preserve the Vehicle Before Repair or Disposal
The family should obtain the Troop E report number, identify the storage location and request preservation of the Honda in its post-crash condition. Maintenance, purchase and modification records may also matter if the physical evidence raises a component question.
