The public reports do not describe the point of impact

The linked reports identify the location and victim, but not the vehicle, its direction of travel or Washington’s position when he was struck. They do not identify the driver or report an arrest or citation. That limited account does not establish fault.

For a pedestrian collision, a useful investigation would need to place the person and vehicle before contact. A witness’s vantage point, the actual view covered by a camera and the damage location can help test an account. Our crash-evidence article discusses preserving original recordings and scene photographs, while the guide to accurate statements and police reports explains why gaps should not be filled with guesses.

Babcock’s Baton Rouge pedestrian accident practice addresses the related claim issues. Nothing in the cited reports provides a final finding about this collision.
