80-Year-Old Arkansas Man Killed in LA 590 Crash Near Bastrop

An 80-year-old man from Hamburg, Arkansas, died after the Ford F-150 he was driving left Louisiana Highway 590 near Gum Springs Road in Morehouse Parish and struck a tree on October 6, 2026.

Louisiana State Police said the 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling east on LA 590 when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the left side of the roadway and hit a tree. The driver was properly restrained and died at the scene.

The Central Question Is Why the F-150 Left the Roadway

A single-vehicle crash does not answer its own cause.

If our firm were investigating this crash for the driver’s family, the highest-value evidence would be the F-150 itself, any retrievable event or stability-control data, steering and braking inputs, tire and wheel condition, and the physical departure path from the roadway to the tree.

Those items could help distinguish a driver-input event from a mechanical problem or another cause without guessing before the evidence is known.

The Departure Path Should Be Documented Before It Changes

Investigators should preserve photographs and measurements showing where the F-150 left the eastbound lane, the shoulder and roadside condition, any tire or gouge marks, and the path to the tree.

That evidence should be compared with the vehicle’s condition and electronic data rather than relying only on the final resting position.

Our Louisiana accident evidence guide explains why vehicle preservation, roadway documentation, and electronic data can become important in serious crash investigations.

LSP Does Not Suspect Impairment

Louisiana State Police said impairment is not suspected, although routine toxicology samples were collected.

The collection of a toxicology sample does not suggest impairment here. LSP’s own preliminary statement is that impairment is not suspected.

Why Early Evidence Preservation Matters Here

Roadway-departure crashes can become harder to reconstruct once a vehicle is moved or repaired and roadside marks fade.

Babcock Injury Lawyers approaches fatal crash cases by moving early on the evidence that can actually change the analysis, identifying any potentially responsible parties and insurance coverage, and preparing the claim with litigation in mind when the facts support it. That is part of The Babcock Benefit. We are not built for volume. We are built for leverage.

If This LA 590 Crash Involved Your Family

The family does not need to know yet why the F-150 left the roadway or whether any third-party claim exists. Those questions can be investigated. What matters early is preserving the truck, roadside evidence, electronic data, and any available witness or video evidence before those sources change or disappear.
