56-Year-Old Franklinton Woman Killed in LA 62 Crash Near Angie

A 56-year-old Franklinton woman died after the Toyota Camry she was driving left Louisiana Highway 62 near Bernard Crain Road in Washington Parish and struck a tree on October 6, 2026.

Louisiana State Police said the 2019 Toyota Camry was traveling north on LA 62 when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the right side of the roadway and hit a tree. The driver was properly restrained and died at the scene.

The Central Question Is What Happened Before the Camry Left the Lane

The tree impact is the end of the sequence, not the explanation for why the crash happened.

If our firm were investigating this crash for the driver’s family, the highest-value evidence would be the Camry’s electronic data if retrievable, tire and steering condition, the roadway edge and shoulder geometry, departure marks, and the vehicle’s path from the northbound lane to the tree.

Those items could help determine whether the roadway departure involved driver input, a mechanical issue, a roadway condition, or another cause supported by evidence.

The Right-Side Departure Path Should Be Preserved

Investigators should document the lane edge, shoulder, roadside geometry near Bernard Crain Road, any tire or gouge marks, and the path to the tree before conditions change.

The physical scene should then be compared with the Camry’s damage and any retrievable electronic data rather than relying only on the final resting position.

Our Louisiana accident evidence guide explains why vehicle preservation, roadway documentation, and electronic data can become important in serious crash investigations.

Impairment Is Unknown, and Toxicology Is Pending

Louisiana State Police said impairment is unknown and routine toxicology samples were submitted for analysis.

Pending toxicology is not evidence that the driver was impaired. It remains an unresolved investigative issue until official results are released.

Why Early Evidence Preservation Matters Here

Roadway-departure crashes can become harder to reconstruct once a vehicle is moved or repaired and roadside marks fade.

Babcock Injury Lawyers approaches fatal crash cases by moving early on the evidence that can actually change the analysis, identifying any potentially responsible parties and insurance coverage, and preparing the claim with litigation in mind when the facts support it. That is part of The Babcock Benefit. We are not built for volume. We are built for leverage.

If This LA 62 Crash Involved Your Family

The family does not need to know yet why the Camry left the roadway or whether any claim exists. Those questions can be investigated. What matters early is preserving the car, roadway evidence, electronic data, and any available witness or video evidence before those sources change or disappear.

If your family was affected by this Washington Parish crash, call Babcock Injury Lawyers at (225) 500-5000 or contact us online. There is no charge to talk with us about what happened.
